Ridges on your nails are caused by poor diet or a bad manicure. Nails can help indicate something is wrong but don't predict it.What do ridges in your finger nails mean?? can the shape your nails are in tell you about your health?
Yes your finger nails tell a lot about your health. First of all do the ridges run the length of the nails? If so it is a strong indication that there is a silicon deficiency. Silicon is a natural mineral that is found in many foods. Here is a list of foods high in silicon: apples, bananas, nuts, seeds asparagus, apricots, beans, beets, cabbage, celery, carrots, grains, oats, plums, pumpkin, rice and spinach to name a few You can also buy a silicon supplement at a good health food store. These ridges can also be caused by psoriasis and types arthritis. Good luck. By the way Office Mom is way out there... Clubbing is indicative of a PDA (patent ductus arteriosis) which is refered to as a murmer. there are many kinds of murmurs , this just happens to be present at birth in most infants and closes within the first minutes with the baby's first breaths, if not it is refered to as a persistent PDA... Hence a murmur and clubbing of the nains will most likely occure. Check out what office Mom is saying with other sources... Sorry to say but she is FULL OF CRAP! Go to any health food store and read bits of ';own your own body '; or ';The perscription for natural healing'; She is blowing smoke up your ***!
It's just how they develop. The shape of your nails can tell you some about your health, but it is more the nail bed.

I have very thin fingernails and toenails. Apparently, something I was born with. Since I chew my fingernails anyway (really bad habit, hard to break!) it's never been much of a problem. When I stopped chewing them for two years, they would rip back. That sure hurt. Just wasn't in my best interests I guess.
ridges in your finger nails are something to do with your health

i think it is to do with your diet, check it out there might be some food you should eat more

sorry i couldnt be more specific
It means you need to eat more healthy foods. You need more calcium in your system. If you aren't lactose intolerant, drink lots and lots of milk, cheese, yogurt, or anything that has a great percentage of calcium in it. Even if you dont like milk alone, try cereal with milk, cookies and milk, pancakes and milk, grilled cheese, parfets with or without nuts, yogurt with berries, chocolate milk, anything. One of my nails was like that and different from all the other nails and it looks a lot better. I hope this helps! : ]
No need to jump in here and explain, Office Mom did a good job.But i will have to tell you this since i started taking women's 1 a day vitamins my nails have never grown like this. Use to they would break easily but these vitamins make them thicker. You'd be surprised.
Ridges indicate stressful times in your life. The more stress the more ridges.
Ridges in your nails are inherited. I have them, my mom has them and so does my sister.
