What causes ridges in finger nails?

There are several things that can cause ridges. If you are under a lot of stress, not enough protein, low iron and I am sure that there are other circumstances as well. Hope I helped a little.What causes ridges in finger nails?

Ridges can come from damage. Did you smash your finger in a door recently? Ouch. Do you wear false nails? Removal of these can take away a few layers of your real nails. Ouch again.

I've always been told it's from calcium deficiency.
its sounds like a zinc deficiency, you should try taking a calcium, magnesium and a zinc combination, you can also try taking an extra zinc..this should clear it up. i used to have those bad and now there barely noticable
