Likewise, I think the HIV is a bit extreme. You'd likely have more symptoms of other problems (fever, fatigue, diarrhea, recurrent illnesses) than just the nails.

Big jump from thinking you might have a vitamin deficiency to HIV.
Your mind doesn't go to HIV unless you lead a risky lifestyle.
I think you better go see your doctor and get a complete physical.
Could be lime disease. You can not really come up with a diganotsis just by having symptoms of ridged nails.
